Summer Solstice Lilac Collection

Lilac (Syringa vulgaris) is a sweet, somewhat spicy, fragrant, ever-nostalgic, blooming shrub that has been steeped into the olfactory of some for many a century. Lilacs are a deciduous bush that can grow upwards of 12’ tall and bloom in an array of colors from white, blue, pink and purple. They thrive on rocky hills and are a member of the olive family. The blossoms of this incredible plant are short-lived; yet they leave a long-lasting impression to those who have the pleasure of growing or enjoying them.

Lilacs have a deep rooted history originating in Greek mythology, and were thought to be named after a beautiful nymph named Syringa. The common name, lilac, was borrowed from the French, Arabic and Spanish word of the same name. The word refers to the most common light purple color of its flowers. In the language of flowers, purple lilacs symbolize the first emotions of love, while white lilacs represent youthful innocence.

Historically, lilacs have been used to prevent stomach related disorders and to kill intestinal worms. It is helpful to fight bacterial and fungal infections; and, it has also been used to prevent and treat malaria.

Lilacs inspire happiness, tranquility, spirituality, love and passion. Lilac is excellent for the skin and is equally healing emotionally, physically and psychologically. The delicate infusion of these gorgeous blossoms relieve soul amnesia. They provide neurological regeneration through stimulation of memory forces that connect the soul with joy and life meaning.

So, on this summer solstice day where the Earth’s axis is tilted just-so.. a day where daylight is the longest, nightfall is the shortest, and the kick off to the summer season officially begins, we anticipate you will enjoy each of these lovingly hand crafted rememdies made with love. I gathered pounds & pounds of vibrant lilac blossoms and created a flower hydrosol, a luscious crème, a tincture and a perfume oil sure to send your body, mind & spirit into botanical bliss!
