Product Description

Herbal Studies Program you will gain an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of the way of herbs. We’ll cover such topics as herbal therapeutics, materia medica, wild plant identification, flower essences, wild foods and herb gardening. We’ll spend time in the classroom with lecture and discussion and time in the field identifying and getting to know local edible and medicinal plants. We’ll gather plants and prepare our herbal pharmacy.

We’ll explore the herb business through a weekend field trip to Big Sur’s Esalan and Bonny Doon. We’ll celebrate the Solstice and Equinoxes and every day with song and ceremony.

April 21, 22: Percolation method of tincturing

May 19, 20: Using herbs with children, Basics of plant taxonomy and Hike through Henry Cowell Park, North entrance – meet at 9:00 am

 

June 16, 17: Materia Medica and Herbal Therapeutics for the Urinary System

Overnight trip to Esalan to visit the Farm, Garden & Healing Hot Springs

We’ll leave Saturday at 8:00 am and return Sunday around 5pm.

 

 July 20, 21, 22: Field trip to Bonnie Doon lavender fields & garden – meet at 9:00am

Exploring the Flower Essence system of healing

 

August 18, 19: Elizabeth Van Buren of E. Van Buren essential oils – Aromatherapy

Herbs for the Reproductive System

 

September 15, 16: Materia Medica and Herbal Therapeutics for the Respiratory System

Materia Medica and Herbal Therapeutics for the Skin, Muscles and Bones

 

October 20, 21: Field trip to Planetary Herbology &

Herbal Therapeutics for Natural Immunity

 

November 17, 18: Medicine Show, Project Presentation, Graduation celebration

Overnight : 10am Saturday to 5pm Sunday

 

* This class is not held on the 3rd

Location: The Red Tent – 15945 Los Gatos Blvd, Suite C, Los Gatos. Class meets (unless otherwise noted) from 10 AM to 4 PM. Please arrive at 9:45. Our schedule will naturally evolve as we do, so be prepared for some changes in content. 

 

Tuition: $1,395.00 includes all instruction, samples of products made, and Rosemary Gladstar’s home study course “The Science and Art of Herbalism”, and membership to United Plant Savers.

 

MORE DETAILS: Most every class includes field identification of wild and cultivated herbs, harvesting and medicine making, herb gardening tips, and wild food harvest and ingestion.
